Webbing

Webbing is available in durable nylon and polyester materials. Widths come in 1″, 2″, 3″ and 4″ and have a breaking strength of 9800 lbs. per 1″ of width.

The major differences between nylon and polyester materials are the amount of “give” each has as well as how they are affected by chemicals.

Polyester – Is widely used because of its resistance to mild acids and has minimal stretch. Do not use when sulfuric acid or alkalines are present or temperatures exceed 194 degrees fahrenheit. The stretch of a polyester sling at capacity is approximately 3%.

Nylon – Is widely used because it is unaffected by oil and grease. In addition, it has excellent chemical resistance to mild alkalies. Do not use in temperatures in excess of 194 degrees fahrenheit. The stretch of a nylon sling at capacity is approximately 8-10%.
